I'm by no means an expert, so I'm not going to talk about how to use the software in this video, but if you're interested in learning how to use it I'd highly recommend some of the tutorials on YouTube which I'll link to in the description box below. With SketchUp, I'm self taught so there's a lot that I don't know, but generally I have always been able to find ways to do whatever I need to do just by googling things. I really like it and find it very easy to use, especially when compared with AutoCAD which is kind of the industry standard CAD programme - I've been using AutoCAD for years for my office based day job and it is much more difficult to learn than SketchUp. They can make your SketchUp experience much simpler and much more enjoyable.I used SketchUp for designing the chair which is a 3d CAD program, and for home users it's free. Use them whenever possible to avoid going to a menu. These shortcuts might not make much sense right now but TRY TO REMEMBER THESE SHORTCUTS. You can avoid clicking on the Dimension icon in the Large Tool Set. The shortcut lets you unhide the last hidden object without opening the Edit menu to do it.įinally, steps 19-20 arm you with the ability to enable dimensioning by simply pressing the D key.
